Super Smash Bros. Brawl Reviews

wii remotes
none

this is by far the best smash brothers yet. I love the integration with the Wii remotes. It makes the fighting much more fun. I was a little worried the remotes may not be responsive enough, but i was not disappointed. I also like the new characters. Esp Sonic

High-intensity comic battling, great online with friends
Laggy random online matches

Minus the bugged random online aspect - takes ages to find matches - there is little wrong with Brawl. Fighting is amusing and entertaining, the roster is fantastic, and there is finally a meaty single player mode for those who don't generally have someone around to play against. While the Subspace Emissary can drag on a bit and the online hub even for friend matches is fairly restrictive, these are mild complaints in the overall scheme of things.

Old favorites Return, 3rd Party Solid Snake and Sonic join the fight, Great Balancing.
WiFI Connection! Extremeley Brutal CPU.

Series Vets and Newcomers will enjoy Brawl. The gameplay is simple enough to pick up for a beginner while a vet can master all the advanced techniques. For those used to the gamecube version, the game allows you to play using the Gamecube controllers. You can also play with the Wii Remote, the Classic controller, or the Wii Remote and a nunchuck. My personal preference is the gamecube controller just because I'm used to it. I've tried with the Wii remote and it takes getting used to because there arn't as many buttons.-The characters are pretty varied, meaning not as many clones as Melee. There is a character for everyone, from the balanced Mario, to the tactiful Solid Snake. Classic mode returns with the same old feeling, not that that's a bad thing. The new story mode, The Subspace Emmisary, is a a little different. Its an upgrade from adventure mode in Melee, with a good backstory and great cutscenes. But its greatest hinderance is the lack of voice acting. Granted, Most of these characters have NEVER spoken, but for this story mode, it set me off slightly. Not to mention that some of the enemies repeat themselves a little too much. The Boss Battles make up for that though. -Next up is Multiplayer. At home, it can't be beat. Nothing is more fun then getting a final smash and pummeling your friends. Online is a different story. It is always a hassle to find a match to fight in. I can always find one to bet on, a nice little feature, but never one to fight in. When you do get in, the lag ranges from none to unbearable. Others have solved the math problem with their routers, but I have yet to find a viable solution. Other games like Mario Strikers and Mario Kart work fine with no connection issues or lag. -Overall, Brawl is a good game. I haven't touched on some of the other features, such as the stage-builder or the event matches, but it's all great! It is a definetely a buy for all Nintendo fans. My only grudge is against the online, but eventually it will work right, or so I'm hoping.

Classic Nintendo Brawl sequal with the additions of online plays. More characters to choose from, player customize stadiums, 4 player versus mode, all the good things you expected are there.
No online voice chat. Laggy online play at times. Graphics can get better.

This is the best Wii title release so far in my opinion. You have everything you expected from a classic brawl game. You have 4 player easy to pick up fighting action, both online and offline, user customize stadiums, pretty much all the Nintendo characters are there(as well as one of my favourite solid snake)And the most important for me is it is good for both adult and kids, so both me and my son can enjoy together. If it is not because of the missing of online voice chat and the laggy online play, i would rate this as a perfect title, but overall i would still rate this a solid 98/100 title.

Great story mode, great multiplayer, great everything
Some online hiccups

Super Smash Bros. Brawl is a great game, everyone should get it. Super Smash Bros. games are always good, but they get better with every incarnation. The graphics are great and the backgrounds and characters are very detailed with great effects. I've never noticed any slowdown during the offline game. The story mode is almost a game in itself - it's reasonably short, but very well-made and fun to play. It takes some time to unlock all the extra characters as well. The multiplayer fighting over the Nintendo Wifi Connection was not as good as I would hope. The Friend Code limit was pretty low and I had difficulty confirming FCs and lag during matches. That's about the only bad thing I can say about the game though, overall it's great and shouldn't be missed by Nintendo and fighter fans.
